On Thursday-30-May the rains of the last few days forced the road closures of Elm Ave at River Rd. along with W.Ft. Lee rd near the River Club development. At the start of the ground work to prepare the site for construction two new drainage lines were installed from Ft. Lee rd to discharge into the Hackensack River. At the release point facing the river each line had a check valve installed to allow the collected water to drain away from the property. The valve is made to let the water drain away without, allowing river water to flow back in. Since the new drainage lines in operation, in about 90 minutes of the announced closing of these roads, the waters on W. Ft. Lee had subsided enough for traffic to travel on it. Barricades did remain in place for precautionary reason. Elm and River were still impassable until the morning. Debris was left at on River Rd approximately even with the walkway to 24 River as a representation of a high water mark.
By the morning commute both roads were reopened for traffic.
