On Friday-17-May the Emergency Services Youth Academy held a fund raising dinner at the Bogota VFW Post 5561 hall. At the beginning it was announced that was formerly known as the Bogota Police Emergency Services Youth Academy. has now become the non-profit organization to be called Emergency Services Youth Academy (ESYA) The main goal of this change is to allow the Academy to become more self sufficient. ESYA now has a Board of Directors, and now have any donation to support their program to be tax deductible. On this night their new web-site: https://www.esyacademy.org/ was premiered. Their new email address has also change to: esyanfp@gmail.com .
At the start of the presentation the audience was welcomed by Former Program Coordinator Anna Geraghty and Academy Director Sgt Craig Lynch. Then that took the time to receive donations from the Bogota Mayor and Borough Council. This was a check handed to Miss Anna by Council members Thomas Napolitano , Kathy Ferris and Connie Carpenter. Then another check was presented by Kim Pulido from Trinity Lutheran Church in Bogota. Later in the evening it was announced that Frank Miranda would sponsor a Cadet for Class 08.
The main focus of this evening was to announce the names of first 10 Students accepted , to be apart of Class 08. Academy Director Sgt Craig Lynch. and Former Program Coordinator Anna Geraghty called the names of the first five new recruits for Class 08. Then to add to the anticipation, they took a break in order to serve dinner. Then when everyone was back at their tables the next five recruits were announced. After this Sgt. Lynch reminded everyone that these were just the first 10 of the group of 60 total recruits that will make up Class 08. The rest of those Students to be invited to join Class 08 will be contacted on Saturday-18-May. Sgt Craig Lynch stress that anyone not making it to Class 08 will be healthy considered to be in Class 09 if they re apply.
Class 08 of the Emergency Services Youth Academy will run from Thursday-1-August to Tuesday-13-August. Any Student wishing to be apart of Class 08 must be able be in attendance for all of these dates. The Emergency Services Youth Academy in Bogota has been developing the Students of Bogota, and is recognized one of the finest youth programs in Northern New Jersey. On the new web-site there is now a link for anyone to donate money or goods to the Academy. This includes a way to sponsor a Cadet for Class 08.
