Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol 1, 2, or 5 only will also be accepted. All recyclable material must be placed in reusable trash receptacles. Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
The collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and the Bogota Public Library can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Bogota Recreation Commission and the Borough of Bogota will present Bogota Day 2019. This will be held in Olsen Park, Bogota , NJ starting at 4:30p. This is a celebration of Bogota 125th Anniversary. Some of the activities planned are Rides and a Petting Zoo, Live Music, and a Historic Bus Tour of Bogota. Snacks including Hot dogs, Popcorn, Cotton Candy , and Ice Cream will be compliments of the Recreation Commission. To end the evening their will be a first of its kind Bogota Fireworks display. The Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:00p weather permitting.It is asked that anyone attend come dress in Purple and Gold to show pride for Bogota, NJ

The North Jersey Friendship House will be hosting their Annual Wellness Walk for Mental Health & Autism. This will take place in Olsen Park Bogota, NJ. This is chance to raise money and awareness of mental health issues while enjoying an early afternoon outdoors. There will be a walk-a-thon around Olsen Park with donations going to help Friendship House with their work. Music, A cook-out, Raffles and a Zumba class are planned for the event. This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The Bogota Public Library will present the movie Join us at the library for a screening of "Movie Queen", as part of the Bogota 125th Anniversary celebration. This is set in Bogota of 1940 when a Hollywood Actress returns to her hometown. Produced by Boston filmmaker Margaret Cram Showalter, this film was one of a series she made from 1935 to 1940 to promote local community. Councilman David MacFarlane will provide piano accompaniment to this silent film. Borough Historian Henry Komorowski will also give a short talk on 1940s wartime civilian life with a special focus on Bogota. At this meeting members are to bring a recipe from this month book, and serve it to the other members as a potluck dinner. This annual event will be every Thursday from June to the end of October. The stand open at 12:00 noon and continue until 6:00p The Teaneck Farmers Market is located in the municipal parking lot along Beverly Rd Teaneck, NJ. There is additional parking available near by.

All four session will be lead by Conor Murphy.
