The library is again working with AARP this year to provided assistance in tax preparation. This will be available on Thursday and Fridays from now until Saturday 15- April. This is targeted to anyone over the age of 60 who could also be collecting Social Security .

Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol 1, 2, or 5 only will also be accepted. All recyclable material must be placed in reusable trash receptacles. Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
The collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and the Bogota Public Library can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The weekly " Meet the Mayor" event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. The Bogota Public Library as part of Bogota's 125th Anniversary will host a lecture on the Lenape Native American nation from the region. This will be presented Rob Aptaker will present stories, history, and artifacts representative of pre-colonial Bergen County and Bogota. For more than 30 years, Mr. Aptaker has shared programs about Native American life and culture at museums, schools, libraries and Native American pow-wows throughout the Northeast.
This program will include traditional Lenape stories and oral histories along with a display of tools, toys, musical instruments and clothing used during the colonial period. This will start at 7:00p and be held in the second floor Senior Centre. Men's Basketball- #1 seed Bogota will play #4 Wood-Ridge in the Semi-final round of the NJSIAA North 1, Group 1 Tournament. This will take place on the Jay Mahoney Court at Speary Gym Tip-off time is scheduled for 1:00p.
