The Bogota Public Library is looking for submission for their Freeze Frame Bogota project.
This is part of the Bogota 125th Anniversary celebration.
They are looking for contributions from current and former resident of Bogota to share their stories and photos about living in Bogota, NJ. Everyone is welcome to contribute and photo(s) and a brief essay describing it. All contributors will be invited to a presentation workshop in the Library in April. Library Staff will help in editing the essays which will be included at an 125th Anniversary exhibit to be held at the Bogota Public Library in May.

Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol 1, 2, or 5 only will also be accepted. All recyclable material must be placed in reusable trash receptacles. Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
The collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and the Bogota Public Library can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The New Jersey Blood Services will be holding a blood drive in the Senior Center located at 375 Larch Ave. The drive will start at 10:00a and go to 4:00p, Along with the collection of red blood cells as well as blood platelets. The blood cells are use for transfusions for anyone who need to replenish their system due to an accident or surgery. Platelets are use to aid in blood clotting that are use for those going through cancer treatments , or organ transplants
If anyone wants to schedule an appointment please: call 917-699-9073. However all who wish to can come to the firehouse between 3:00- 8:00p and donate without an appointment.Anyone may donate if the are between 17-75 years old, in good heath, and weigh at least 110 lbs. A donor is accepted even if they are prescribed medications that are frequently taken, inform the staff of all medication being taken, and it is recommended that a donor have a good meal , and plenty of fluids prior to donating.

Bogota Public Library and Bogota Beautiful will host their 4th annual Community Potluck . This will take place in the Senior Center located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. There is no admission price to attend, and it will run from 1:00p to 3:00p. Anyone wishing to attend must contribute a food item of either an appetizer, main course, or dessert and should register at: Community Potluck Luncheon so that they will be able to set a menu. All donated food items must be delivered to the library between 11:30a and noon that day.
Tom Shrnich, from the Library, informed the meeting that he is scheduled to have live music to perform during the event. In addition to donating an item to be served, anyone attending this event is ask to donate a non-perishable food item to help supply the St. Joseph's Food Bank. Anyone wishing to help with set-up, decorations, and serving should also contact the Library. Any High School Student who volunteers will receive Community Service Hours.

Wrestling- Adam Albino at 106 lbs, Andre Ruiz at 120 lbs, and John Perez at 138 lbs have qualified for to the NJISSA Region 2 Wrestling meet at Mount Olive NJ. The first bouts will take place on Wednesday-20-February at 6:00p. They will continue on Friday- 22-February at 6:00p and on Saturday -23-February at 9:30a.
