The Bogota Public Library is looking for submission for their Freeze Frame Bogota project.
This is part of the Bogota 125th Anniversary celebration.
They are looking for contributions from current and former resident of Bogota to share their stories and photos about living in Bogota, NJ. Everyone is welcome to contribute and photo(s) and a brief essay describing it. All contributors will be invited to a presentation workshop in the Library in April. Library Staff will help in editing the essays which will be included at an 125th Anniversary exhibit to be held at the Bogota Public Library in May.

Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol 1, 2, or 5 only will also be accepted. All recyclable material must be placed in reusable trash receptacles. Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
The collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and the Bogota Public Library can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Bogota Public Library will have their Youth's Sewing Club meeting. This is open to Students ages 9-18. This will teach anyone the art of sewing. There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material. The weekly " Meet the Mayor" event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. The Borough of Bogota is sponsoring a Valentine’s Dance at the Bogota VFW Post #5561 building. Door will open at 6:30p and will run until 8:00p. To help celebrate the Bogota 125th Anniversary, the will have Dance a “In Love with Bogota” theme to it. This dance is open to families with children, adolescents and adults. Bogota Beautiful will host another Paint & Sip Night. Similar to the one held last year, and will be a fundraiser for Bogota Beautiful future projects. The event is scheduled for Thursday-14 February starting at 7:30p. It will he held on the second floor of the Kennedy Emergency Service Building located at 69 W. Main St. Bogota, NJ. They hope to encourage couples and friends to spend a relaxing Valentines Day together while creating personally made item. Local Artist Betty Buffin will lead the group in how to paint on glassware , and ceramics. The price is $40.00 per Person which will include all the material needed to create a personalized goblet. Admission will also included an Italian themed buffet diner with soft drinks and coffee available. Anyone in attendance over aged 21 will be permitted to bring their own wine. Tickets may be order in advanced. This will be a one hour session starting at 12:00 noon. a and be held in the second floor Senior Centre. The class will be led by Deborah Glassford from the Spa at Glenpointe.
