Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol 1, 2, or 5 only will also be accepted. All recyclable material must be placed in reusable trash receptacles. Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
The collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and the Bogota Public Library can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

The Bogota Board of Education will have their Re-Origination meeting for 2019. This is scheduled for 6:00p and will be held in the High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin place Bogota, NJ. Eileen Lewis, Kathy VanBuren, and Michael Connors will be given the oath of office at that time. The Public is invited to attend.
The Board of Education meetings for 2019 will be announce at the 3-January meeting.

The Bogota Borough Council will hold their Sine Die. This will be held in the Senior Centre located on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave. Bogota NJ starting at 7:00p . Then the swearing in of the newly elected Council Members Connie Carpenter and Rob Robbins will take place , and the official Council member is scheduled to begin at 7:30p The Public is invited to both meeting.

The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups. One group for anyone ages from 2-7 will run from 11:00a. to noon. All Students who participate must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian through out the event. This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance.

There will be a chance to learn machine, and hand sewing as well as shown different project and types of material. This will be from 1:00p to 4:00p in the back reading room.This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance. The Bogota Public Library will offer an AARP Defensive Driving Course. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques. The weekly " Meet the Mayor" event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office.
