On Wednesday-16-January Bogota Beautiful held their Public meeting for January. One new event was added. This is another Paint & Sip Night. Similar to the one held last year, and will be a fundraiser for Bogota Beautiful future projects. The event is scheduled for Thursday-14 February starting at 7:30p. It will he held on the second floor of the Kennedy Emergency Service Building located at 69 W. Main St. Bogota, NJ. They hope to encourage couples and friends to spend a relaxing Valentines Day together while creating personally made item. Local Artist Betty Buffin will lead the group in how to paint on glassware , and ceramics. The price is $40.00 per Person which will include all the material needed to create a personalized goblet. Admission will also included an Italian themed buffet diner with soft drinks and coffee available. Anyone in attendance over aged 21 will be permitted to bring their own wine. Tickets may be order in advanced. They also confirm plans to assist the Bogota Public Library with their 4th annual Community Potluck . This will take place on Saturday-23-February in the Senior Center located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. There is no admission price to attend, and it will run from 1:00p to 3:00p. Anyone wishing to attend must contribute a food item of either an appetizer, main course, or dessert and should register at: Community Potluck Luncheon so that they will be able to set a menu. All donated food items must be delivered to the library between 11:30a and noon that day.
Tom Shrnich, from the Library, informed the meeting that he is scheduled to have live music to perform during the event. In addition to donating an item to be served, anyone attending this event is ask to donate a non-perishable food item to help supply the St. Joseph's Food Bank. Anyone wishing to help with set-up, decorations, and serving should also contact the Library. Any High School Student who volunteers will receive Community Service Hours.
Another event talked about was the fifth Bogota Beautiful Earth Day Event. This has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday -5-May. Times and clean-up areas will be announced as they are confirmed. In addition to cleaning up areas of Bogota, two other activities are being planned. One is a presentation by the group Bees, Trees, and Water which bringing awareness to the important providing a healthy environment in local communities. Another is an interactive art project to any volunteers wishing to help. This is planned to be a "Fence Weaving" installation on the fence next to the T-Ball field in Olsen Park. This will be coordinated by The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) as part of their ArtsBeregn project to help local communities beautify there towns.
Bogota Beautiful is still accepting sign-ups for anyone wishing to be a Volunteer on this day. The number of Volunteers that sign up will help them plan on how many areas will be work on that day. They are also accepting donations of any equipment to help with the clean up. Gloves, hats, racks, shoves, broom, or any other type of lawn equipment will be accepted. They are also looking for anyone who has their own power equipment to volunteer their services on that day. Anyone with tillers, leaf blowers, power washers and cordless mowers would be welcome. Bogota Beautiful is also interested in any business who would be able donate refreshment for the Volunteers. Water, snack, fruit, and Sandwiches are the primary need to get the Volunteers going on a late spring afternoon. High School and College Student will be awarded community service credit for volunteering for this event.
