Starting on Monday-26- February the main parking lot and front entrance to Bogota High School will be closed. This is due to the reconstruction of the Parking lot. Work is scheduled to continue until First week of September-2018. All access to the High School will be through the side door on the North side of the building.

The Bogota Public Library will present Reading to Abbey starting at 10:30a. Abbey is a therapy dog who comes to public libraries in order to aid help students who may have challenges in reading. This a chance for the Students to practice their reading skills by reading to Abbey. This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance. Starting on Sunday-1 July-2018 the Borough of Bogota will change the ordnance in what can be recycled. Bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota will now be limited to: Aluminium, Glass, Bi-metal/Tin cans. Aluminium foils and pie plates will be accepted but must be clean. Plastic Containers with the symbol 1, 2, or 5 only will also be accepted. All recyclable material must be placed in reusable trash receptacles. Items places in plastic bag will not be collected. Paper and cardboard recycling remains unchanged.
The collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and the Bogota Public Library can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
The collection day under the new rules will be Thursday-5-July (due to the Fourth of July Holiday) Then every other Wednesday.

Monday-1- October will be the start of Leaf Season. Home Owners are allowed to place raked, leaves and grass cutting in the street , along the curb, in front of their residents. It is ask that the piles be placed in such a way as not to interfere with traffic, and away from storm sewers and drain to prevent flooding , or other water build-up. Leaf Season is schedule to end on Monday -17- December after that date all yard waste must be placed in brown leaf bags for pick-up.

The Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band will participate in the 72th North Jersey Band Festival at Montclair State University. The events starts at 4:00p with Bogota scheduled to be the third band to perform. ( Rain date will be Sunday -11-November also at 4:00p). Bogota has been the only High School band to attend all 71 prior festivals. Tickets are $10.00 in advance, and $15.00 at the gate. parking cost $6.00 . Tickets may be purchased from any band member. For the 2018 general Election Bogota Public Schools will be closed. Bogota Public Library will open at 2:00p
On Tuesday-5-June the State of New Jersey will hold its Primary Elections for 2018. The polls will be opening at 6:00a and remaining open until 8:00p.
There have been some changes from the primary elections. The polling place normally in Bogota High School have been move to Steen School for this election.

The Bogota VFW Ralph Hall Post # 5561 will host its Annual Veterans Day ceremony. This is a chance for the citizens of Bogota to show their thanks and appreciation for what the members of the Armed Services both past & present mean to the Country. Doors open at 6:30 pm, ceremony starts at 8pm. It includes announcement of Bogota's citizen of the year and its young volunteer award. Please come by for the ceremony and refreshments.
