On Sunday-4-November The Bogota Marching Buccaneer Band played at the 72nd North Jersey Marching Band Festival. This was held on the campus of Montclair State University. Bogota is the only band that has participated in all 72 events.
To start their performance they forgoed the normal stoic timed marched, and choose to do a stampede run on which drew the attention of the audience, and gave delight of some of the other bands in the Stadium. The Marching Buccaneers were lead onto the field by Drum Major Angelie Jaipersaud, and Twiller Alondra Batista. Once Ms Jaipersaud call the band to attention they performed their 2018 show "Music of the Rolling Stones" They open with a combination of " You Can't Always Get Want You Want/Get Off of My Cloud". Next was "Brown Sugar" "Jumpin' Jack Flash" "Honky Tonk Woman" finishing with "Satisfaction" This featured Guitarist Natalie Hartwick and Amadeo DeLaPava who were "accompanied" by the Flag Squad on blow up guitars.
During their performance they again broke with traditional static moves around the field and incorporated some free flowing patterns and movements quickly going from one song to another. Their high energy, fast paced interpretation of the music kept the viewers applauding and cheering up to the end.
The band's next performance will be the Concert & Jazz bands, along with the Choir at the Winter Concert scheduled for Thursday-13-December in the High School Auditorium.
