On Saturday-8-September the veterans organization "Care for the Brave" held a launching event at the Bogota VFW Ralph Hall post #5561. Founder and President Paul Burns announced the goals of this Veteran's support goal. Mr. Burns talked about the disproportionate number of Veterans have commuted suicide, with a high percentage of those victims suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. One part of Care for the Brave mission is to reach out to these Veterans and assist them with job training, and,placement, along with counseling and tutoring of young veterans. Mr Burns also hopes Care for the Brave can acquire new clothing and other supplies from retailers and manufacturers to be donated to local Veteran shelters and hospital for those who are in need.
Mr Burns then presented Bogota Post #5561 Commander Alexander Hernandez, and post #5561 member Joe Krause , along with Ridgefield Park VFW Post #227 Commander Bobby Carlson certificates from Care for the Brave. These were Courage is Contagious awards for the assistance in hosting and organizing this event. Mr Burns also presented certificates from Congressmen Josh Gottheimer to Local Veterans Junior Camacho and Douglas Ardison. Paul Burns as also presented certificates from Congressmen Josh Gottheimer by one of his representatives. These awards were presented in recognition of the work these Veterans have done to support their fellow Service personal.
Care for the Brave is planning to host a charity Basketball game in Speary Gym on Monday-2-October. This will feature a contest between the members of the Bogota police Dept taking on members of the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. The process will go to Care for the Brave.
