On Sunday -10-June the Friendship House of Northern New Jersey held their annual Wellness Walk for Mental Health and Autism. This took place in Olsen Park in Bogota and capped off Mental health Awareness Month. Walker's cover three laps of the Olsen Park Environmental Walkway with proceeds going to assists person with disabilities to live and improve the quality of life. Games were played to win prizes, along a raffle item available. Music was provided by Scott Reddin. Before the walkers took their laps they had a chance to warm up with some Zumba being lead by Darlene Marshall. After the doing their laps walkers were treated to lunch and dessert and could relax in Olsen park for the just of the early afternoon. Members of Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept Engine Co. #1 donated their time to cook for the walkers. They also had their vehicle on display for anyone to look at and even sit in. Students from Parisian Beauty Academy gave hand messages as well as doing face painting , and even adding hair extensions to a few.
The afternoon started with Friendship House CEO Leonard Nicolosi welcoming the attendees, and thanking all the volunteers who made this event possible. Mr Nicolosi then introduced Mary Pastana who asked Gloria Hopf to step forward to receive well wishes for her Birthday. Then Bergen County Freeholder Tracy Zur, and Hackensack Deputy Mayor Dave Sims presented Ms. Hopf proclamations acknowledging her years of service to the Friendship House
