On Thursday-7-June the Bogota Borough Council held their first meeting for the month of June. Some of the notable agenda item passed was to establish a program to allow active members of the Boroughs Emergency Services Volunteer to receive permission the to have permits to park their vehicles on the street. This will give the Volunteers a quicker response time when they are call to duty. Other items pass was give the authorization so that a advertisement can be made to allow bidding on a replacement vehicle for the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. Hose Company #2.
There was a presentation by Amaru Bustamante of Bogota Beautiful to inform the Borough's governing body about their "Utility Box Project". The goal is to allow select public structures to be painted by local artist. This is similar to an ArtsBergen project that painted utility boxes Hackensack last year. Mr. Bustamante continued and ask if the Borough can offer their assistance in locating areas in the Borough which can be used, along with finding grant funding for this project.
Other items discussed were to allow the Recreation Centre to offer a three day a week Summer Camp program along with its full week program. It was announced that the annual Shred Day event will be on Saturday-30-June. This will take place from 9:00a to 1:00p. At this event plastic bags, that can no longer be recycled, will be collected by the Trex Corporation which will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials This is a free service open to Bogota residents. This will be held at the Bogota Recreation Center located at 162 W. Main St. Bogota, NJ. Another item agreed on was to move the times of the 19-July and the 16-August Council meetings to a 7:00p start time. The next Borough Council meeting and work session will be on Thursday-28-June. This is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers located on the second floor at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. This meeting is open to the public.
