Recycling Changes

21-May-2018
Starting with the Wednesday-26-May the bottle & cans recycling pick-up the Borough of Bogota is limiting the types of items that will be accepted.  At the request the company the Borough works with, the following products will no longer be accepted for recycling. They are the plastic bags from grocery stores, and the bags that newspapers are delivered in. Along with similar product using lightweight plastic film. What will still be accepted for recycling are glass, aluminium, plastic, and steel bottles & cans. Disposable plastic cups & plates along with plastic take out and other food packaging. Styrofoam egg cartons, cups, plates, containers, packaging and filler products are also still recyclable on the same day.
The  collectible the products that have been removed from the accepted list will now be accepted by The Borough of Bogota in cooperation with the Ridgefield Park  environmental commission and collected in a separate way. The Trex Corporation has provided bins to accept the following item. Grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrapping, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zip lock & other re-seal able bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All  recyclable materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. For every 500 pounds of plastic collected the Trex Corporation will donate a new park bench, made from recycled materials. The benches will be donated to both Bogota and Ridgfield Park on a rotating basis. As of now a Trex collection bin is in the lobby of the Bogota Borough Hall and can be accessed during regular business hours. More bins are planned for other locations in the future.
