The Bogart Memorial Church held the first class at its Flourish Community Art Studio. This will be housed at 254 & 262 Elm Ave in Bogota, NJ. This initial classes held there are Pottery Classes for Students. These session starting on Tuesday-13-March and will run for seven weeks. There were two separate classes for Students from Kindergarten to Grade Six. Both ran for one hour with one class starting at 3:30p and the second starting at 4:30p. ( there will be no classes on the week of 1-April).
The classes are taught by Yongmi Kim, who presented everyone with their own small square of clay to start with. Ms.Kim allowed the Student to create items of their own choosing. She would then walk around offering advice, or to answer question if needed. The Studio is equipped with a kiln and six potter's wheels these will be use in the future. There are also spaces to mold and paint items that are created by the students. At the end of the hour the students place their creation on a shelf to dry, and be ready for the next stein following classes.
Flourish Community Art Studio has already is popular with all the spaces for these two session have been filled. Pastor Jodie Wu of Bogart Church said that Thursday classes have been added due to demand. She also talked about having the next session of classes schedule to start in May, and run until June.
