The Bogota/ Weehawken Wrestling squad held their final regular season home match for 2018. This was Senior Night for the Wrestlers of the Class of 2018. This was also the final match that will feature a combined squads from Bogota and Weehawken High Schools. This will end an 11 year cooperation between the two schools to field a full Wrestling Squad. Before the Senior introductions the eight Students from Weehawken were asked to step and given a thank-you from the audience in Speary Gym for the work the two schools have shown since 2017. Next the three Bergenfield Bears Seniors were asked to step forward and be recognized for their Varsity Careers. Then the eight members from Bogota/ Weehawken were introduced and presented with banquets to thank them , and their Families for the years of Varsity Wresting
Bogota/ Weehawken won the match by a score of 51-21. Danny Gonzalez at 132 lbs, Brandon Gonzalez at 138 lbs, Kevin Rodriguez at 145 lbs, Jamear Stephenson at 195 lbs. One serious moment occurred during the 152 lbs bout between Tyler Williams and Bear's Kyle Schnellbacker, Mr. Schnellbacker was forced to withdraw under medical advice after receiving a second injury. He was able to walk off the mat and was taken for further examination.
Their record is now 14-10. Their next match is on Friday-9-February when they travel to Teaneck. The first bout is scheduled for 7:00p
