On Tuesday-6-February the Bogota Board of Education held it's first public meeting for February. At the start of the meeting Superintendent Dr Vincent Varcadipane had a few announcements. One that may be of the most interest is the Board of Education has been contacted by the Borough of Bogota to join a comprehensive " lock-down" system that borough looking to add to its other properties. This would allow all outside doors of any BoE schools to be locked with a single button. This would also active schools cameras and send live images to the Bogota Police Dept. Another feature will be the sending of notice to the Parents of Students of the occurrence of a situation. This will discussed at future meeting. Dr Varcadipane also provided update on the lentil replacement and the new air conditioning system at Bixby school. He also explained there is a new APP available to access information about the Public School District. This can be acquired on an app store by typing bb comm then typing in bogota, then bbdistrict . This is a free app.
The Board then considered the agenda items. This is a first vote on whether these item should be moved forward to a final vote at the next Board of Education meeting. All these items passed, but will not be put in place until they are voted on again the next meeting. Some of the notable item was the retirment of the Physical Education Teacher at Steen School. The resignation of the Bogota Football Bucs Head Coach. And the termination of two custodians at Steen School.
At the next Board of Education meeting, candidates will be interviewed to fill the one year seat as a Trustee left vacant by the resignation Jo Ellen Granqust in January The Board of Education will host an interview meeting at the Board meeting on Tuesday-12-February.
This meeting will be on Tuesday-12-February. and scheduled to start at 7:00p. This will take place in the High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of the High School at 2 Henry Luthin pl. Bogota, NJ This meeting is open to the public.
