On Wednesday-17- January Bogota Beautiful had its first board meeting of the new year. The first announcement made was that Amaru Bustamante has been reelected at Chairperson of the organization. The first agenda item discussed was a pause in the Zumba night event. Due to weather conditions and scheduling was announced that the next Zumba Night will be scheduled for Tuesday-20-February. This will still be held at the Gymnasium of Bogart School the entrance is located off of W.Ft Lee rd. Bogota, NJ. Tickets will still be $10.00 person and $25.00 for a family of 3 or more. Classes will start at 7:00p
The next item was some finalizing of the Community Pot Luck dinner. This will be held in cooperation with the Bogota Public Library and take place on Saturday-17-February. It will run from 4:00p to 6:00p at the second floor Senior Center located at 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ. Library coordinator Tom Skrnich was confirmed that five entertainers have agreed to preform during the evening. Those scheduled are Councilman David McFarland, Jim Musto, Erin and John Wohlberg, Steve Kelerman and members of the Bogart Choir. Admission is a dish to be shared with others in attendance. It is asked that anyone wishing to attend contact Tom Skrnich to register what items will be donated. There is also a need for volunteers to aid with set-up, serving, and cleaning. Any High School Student will earn Community Service credit for this event. All Volunteers are asked to arrive at 1:00p . Food items will be accepted from 2:30-3:30p
Future events will be their Earth Day 2018 event. This will take place on Saturday-21-April. Some ideas discussed were adding flower plants to the Queen Anne Rd or E.Main Street business areas. Planting of tree saplings, these will be donated by Sustainable New Jersey with the assistance of Councilwoman Danile Fede. A Clothing Exchange, and the possibility of offering lawn care to Bogota Senior Citizens. Bogota Beautiful has also been approach by ArtsBergen to select local artist the opportunity to decorate public ares with in the Borough. This is similar to a ArtsBergen project in Hackensack last year. More details of these future event will be proved when they are made public.
The next Bogota Beautiful board meeting will take place on Wednesday-21-February starting at 7:30p. This will be held on the second floor of the Kennedy Emergency Services Building located at 69 W. Main Street Bogota, NJ and is open to the public. For more information on volunteering for any of these project.
