On Monday-4-December local artist Rita Flores opened her gallery show at the Bogota Public Library. This featured works by Ms. Flores are part of her "Scary Monsters (and Super Freaks)" collection. A graduate of Bogota High School and Montclair University she has shown her work at Brix City Brewing in Little Ferry, NJ., Bottom of the Barrel galley and Paterson Museum She primarily works in Oils and Acrylic paints and has started to develop the use of digital devices to expand her media choices. With this current show she has created a number of works using an electronic table and the application that can be obtained for it. This has allowed Ms. Flores to expand and have greater control of the colour palette available to use. For this show she has drawn inspiration from the styles of Andy Warhol, and Henri Matisse with her use of bright colours. Her subject for this show have been taken from popular culture to include images of musical stars, and charters from graphic novels.
The show is open to the public during regular Library hours. It is located in the first floor magazine reading room. It will run for the rest of December, and is free of charge.
