NJIC Tournament

  On Monday-23-October  Bogota High School hosted the Semifinal round of the NJIC  Women's Volleyball Tournament. This took place Speary Gym. The first match was the #2 Elmwood Park Lady Crusaders  taking on the #6  Lady Boilermakers from Garfield.  Elmwood Park had the first set mainly in control opening up a 17-6 lead. The Lady Boilermakers then came off a timeout and started to climb back into the game. Garfield cut the lead to only 2 Points, until Elmwood Park took back control and won the first set 25-21.
  The momentum of the opening win allowed Lady Crusaders to take a big lead in the second set by scores of 8-1 and 15-4 on their way to a 25-8, Two sets to none win.   Elmwood Park's Nicole Tofil would have 8 Kills, Davah Soley would record 4 Aces and Taqwa Ali would have 20 Assist.
  In the second match the top seeded  Wood-Ridge Lady Blue Devils played the #4 Glen Rock Lady Panthers. Wood-Ridge immediately  loss service to Glen Rock, but quickly recovered to take six of the next seven points for a 6-2 lead. The Lady Blue Devils would keep the pressure on  and win the first set 25-14. Again in the second set the Panthers would score first, and have Wood-Ridge tie the game at one. This would be the first of at least eight tie scores and five lead changes. Mid way through the second set Wood-Ridge would hold a 19-15 advantage. The Lady Panthers would then claw their back to force a tie at 21. The Lady Blue Devils would stand one point from victory, but Glen Rock  would force extra points tying the set 24.  Wood Ridge finally was able score the needed margin to capture a 26-24 and 2-0 match win.  Madylin Marino would finish with 7 Kills and Ashley Gareffa would record 14 Assists.
   This sets up a #1 Wood-Ridge against #2 Elmwood Park NJIC Tournament Final Match on Wednesday-25-October at Harrison. Schedule first serve will be 7:30p.
