On Tuesday-10-October the Emergency Services Companies of Bogota held their annual Emergency Services night in Olsen Park. This was to allow the public to get a closer look at the equipment use by the Firefighter, Police Officers, Rescue Workers, and Ambulance Crews that aids them in successfully to perform their duties. This was also a chance to talk to the Women and Men, mostly Volunteers, on what is it like when they need to answer a call.
Members of Bogota Rescue #46 and Bogota Fire dept Hose Co. #2 demonstrated how they remove parts of a vehicle in order to rescue anyone trapped inside. Other Firefighters showed how they open a roof of a home in order to gain more access to a fire situation. Members of Engine Co #1 and Hook and Ladder #1 had an active fire set-up so that Students could feel what it was like spray water from the hose. Bogota Police had a table set-up with some of their safety equipment. This included different types of Firearm, along with helmets and shields use for protection. Some of the Students there were allowed to try the helmet on for size. There was also a demonstration by the Bergen County K-9 unit which showed how the four footed officers are used to find a missing person, or illegal substances.
