On Wednesday-6-September the St. Joseph's School in Bogota welcome their Students to the first day of the 2017-18 School year. With a steady rain in the morning the welcoming was held in the Gymnasium. The Students walked into the E. Ft Lee Rd entrance and were greeted by two lines of teachers flanking the front hallway. The Students then entered the gym and formed up into lines for each grade level. There was only one or two newest who were reluctant to leave their Parents but were soon put at ease by their soon to be teachers and were guided to join their new classmates. Also some of the Eighth Grade Students acted as escorts to the younger members of the school who walked with them to their class group. Other Student greeted & hug some past Teachers, while other caught up on the Summer news. Among the members of the Class of 2018, who the start of their final year at St. Joseph's, an unofficial height comparison took place to see if anyone could come close to matching Mr Moeller.
Finally Principal Stella Scarano entered the Gym ringing a school bell to bring the Students to order. She welcomed the new and returning Student to the start of another school year. She asked if everyone was happy and excited about starting a new school year, somehow she could only hear the positive answers to her question. Next Principal Scarano introduce the Student to the New St. Joseph's Church Pastor Father John Galeano. Father Galeano thanked the Students for their welcome, but need to have it a little more convincing to make sure that everyone had fully woken up for the day. Father Galeano then led the school in a morning prayer After that Kindergartener Magnus lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance. With that the Students were then walked to their respective classroom to begin a new year of learning.
