On Thursday -28-September The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. Hook & Ladder Co. #1 and Engine Co. #1 held their annual Blood Drive. This event will take place at the West Broad St. Firehouse next door to the Police Headquarters. This being co-sponsored by the Community Blood Services which provides blood products to area hospitals. This ran for five hours and had a steady stream of volunteers arrive to donate .
They collection of red blood cells as well as blood platelets. The blood cells are use for transfusions for anyone who need to replenish their system due to an accident or surgery. Platelets are use to aid in blood clotting that are use for those going through cancer treatments , or organ transplants. The Bogota Volunteer Fire Department serves the citizens of Bogota. The Bogota Fire Department is an all volunteer organization serving the Borough since 1901. They also provide assistance in rescue , and other emergency situation. The Bogota Fire Department is now currently recruiting new members to become volunteers. This is open to anyone Female or Male who are at least 18 years of age , and are residents of Bogota as well as Ridgefield Park, Teaneck ,and Hackensack. Training, and equipment will be provided. There is also a Junior Firefighter program open to young Women, and Men who at at least 16 years of age. A Junior Firefighter will also receive training , and be a part of the support system to the Firefighters themselves.
