On Tuesday-20-June the Steen School in Bogota held their Sixth grade Graduation for the Class of 2017. This year the Students wore a blue sash with the year 2017 embroider on it. The processional was the tune "Teacher's Pet" play by Superintendent Dr. Vincent Varcadipane on Bass Guitar. After all the Students were assembled on stage Seniah Burrell and Marco Pozo lead the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance as well as singing America the Beautiful.
Steen Principal Dayle Santoro took to the podium and welcomed the Families and Friends in celebration of the Class of 2017's milestone. Next Superintendent Dr. Varcadipane then addressed the class with the idea of any effort to improve the world around them, no matter how small it may seem, is always worth the time and work put into it.
After that Alejandro Rojas and Stephen Sanz introduced the video showing highlights from the past year, along with former and current images of the Students. Next Valerie Brio and Nevaeh Bustamante-Kunzer thanked all the Parents and other Family member for their support and guidance throughout their Steen years. With that all the Class presented a rose to their Family in the Audience.
Following this Taylor Moses gave an impassioned and emotional address to and on behalf of the Class of 2017. She thanked her classmate for the time spent together and experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime. She told of the work and dedication members of this class had shown while apart of Steen School and wished them all the best in whatever happens next.
Then, finally, Principal Santoro awarded the Students their Certificates of Promotion for their completion of their education at Steen School. After the last certificate was handed out the Class of 2017 were able to remove their sashes signifying they are now Graduates of Steen School for the year 2017. Then Principal Santoro took a moment to honor retiring Teachers: Reading Specialist Ms Sandra Condal. and long time Steen Teacher Ms. Paula Mahoney for their work with the Students of Bogota.
The Graduates then performed one final song "The Final Countdown" to end the ceremony and a chance to celebrate with their Family and Friends.
