On Tuesday-13- June the Bogota Board of Education held their first two meeting for the month of June. Before the regular work session the Board took a moment to recognize some of the Teachers from the district. First the presented the Teacher of the Year for each of the Public Schools in Bogota. For the High School: Dianna Kelemen. For Steen School; Gina Giunchini. For Bixby: Lauren Sontag. All three teachers were selected by a committee of residents, Students, Teachers, and Administrators, and were recipients of the 2016-17 Bergen County Teachers & Educational Service Professional Award.
Next the Board honoured three Teachers who will retire at the end of this school year. Sandra Condal, Susan Barnes, and Paula Mahoney were presented plaques by Superintendent Dr. Vincent Varcadipane and Board President Charles Severino. All had over 20 years of service to the Students of the Bogota Public School.
The only major announcements during the regular meeting was that dates of the Summer School program will be from Monday-10- July to Friday 4-August. Also the next Board of Education meeting will on Tuesday 27- June. This will take place in the Bixby School Gymnasium due to construction occurring in the High School. The meeting is schedule to start at 7:30p and is open to the public. Bixby School is located at the corner of Maplewood and Fishers Aves Bogota, NJ
