The Bogota Public Library will offer an AARP Defensive Driving Course. This is designed for drivers over the age of 50 and will explain update driving rules and teach defensive driving techniques. This will start at 11:00a and be held in the second floor Senior Centre There is a $15 fee fro AARP members and $20 for non-members and anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance. The weekly " Meet the Mayor" event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. The Bogota High School Department of Music will host their Spring Concert. This will feature performances by the Concert band, and the Jazz band under the direction of Mr. Barry McCann. There will also be performance by the Full Choir, and the Women's and Men's Choirs. All of these will be under the direction of Ms. Lynch. The Bogota Band Parents Organization will be holding their first Spring town wide garage sale. This will be held Saturday-20-May and run from 10:00a to 1:00p. Price will be will $10, this will include an official lawn sign, listing in Bergen Record's Garage Sale section, and a listing on Craig's list. Process will go to the Band Parents General fund which helps pay for transportation to away football games, and other event along with supplying lunch for the band members. Bogota Beautiful will again host their Yoga in the Park classes. These will run every Saturday in May and June. Class will be one hour. These will take place each in Olsen Park and start at 9:00a. Classes will be led by a Professional Yoga instructor. These classes are open to anyone regardless of age, or experience. The classes will meet at the Bandshell in Olsen Park depending on the number of attendees classes may be held in the bandshell or on the lawn in front of the bandshell. Everyone you wishes to attend is required to provide their own mat, towels, and water. Comfortable clothing that will allowed free and ease of movement should be worn. This is free to the public, however it is asked to contact Bogota Beautiful at there website: bogotabeautiful.com to make a reservation for as many dates as you wish. The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups. One group for anyone ages from 2-4 will run from 10:30a to 11:00a. The second group will be for ages 5-7 and start at 11:15a to 12:00 noon. This is a free event, but anyone attending is asked to register with the library in advance.
