The Bogota VFW Post #5561 will host their annual Loyalty Day program.They will award the winners of the "Voice of Democracy" and "Patriot's Pen" essay contest. They will also display the work of the colouring contest for the younger Students. This will be held in the Main Hall located at 240 Leonia Ave Bogota, NJ. This is open to the Public and is a free event. This will take place in the Main Hall and start at 7:00p. There will be a local singing group providing live entertainment and a flag presentation. Then the winners of the Patriots Pen and "Voice of Democracy" writing competition will be announced. The winning essays will be read aloud and the writers will be given their awards.

Bogota Beautiful will again host their Yoga in the Park classes. These will run every Saturday in May and June. Class will be one hour. These will take place each in Olsen Park and start at 9:00a. Classes will be led by a Professional Yoga instructor. These classes are open to anyone regardless of age, or experience. The classes will meet at the Bandshell in Olsen Park depending on the number of attendees classes may be held in the bandshell or on the lawn in front of the bandshell. Everyone you wishes to attend is required to provide their own mat, towels, and water. Comfortable clothing that will allowed free and ease of movement should be worn. The Bogota Community Garden will start work on the expansion of the current garden. They plan to add 4 more raise planting beds to bring the total to 20. This will require the garden to increase by six feet along the west side of the garden and by eighteen feet towards the north side. This will allow the garden to have two rows of 10 planting beds each. The Garden also is seeking to add a number of support structures such as a tool shed, compost area and benches. They are looking for volunteers to assist with the construction of the new space. Another new feature will be the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept will be permitted to fill the rain barrels if the supply of water begins to run low.
Anyone wishing to reserve at planter for themselves, or as a group should contact the Bogota Community Garden at: bogotacommunitygarden@gmail.com for information on reserving a bed, and to learn about the requirement will be to be a part of the garden.

The Bogota Public Library will honor the Life of Nikki Spiegel on Saturday-6-May. This will include the formal dedication of the Nikki Spiegel Storytime Corner and the unveiling of the " Nikki Tree". This will be a chance for members of the Community to share, listen, and remember the Life and works of Nikki Spiegel. The ceremony will start at 3:00p at the Bogota Public Library located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. This will be a remembrance of the work Ms Spiegel has done in affecting the lives of the Student of Bogota. She served as the Library's Director of the Children's Program for fifteen years and showed the importance, and pleasure reading and learning to many generations of Bogota Student. During this event, a tree build combining two of Ms Spiegel favorite passions of reading and nature, will be unveiled to become a place of quiet reading and learning within the Library.

The Steen School PTO will host their fifth annual "Tricky-Tray" fundraiser event. This will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ridgefield Park. The Bogota Public Library will host a workshop for young athletes in Bogota This will be the first of four Saturday's to encourage Students to learn more about how learning any sport can be beneficial in everyday life. It will be in two separate age groups. One group for anyone ages from 2-4 will run from 10:30a to 11:00a. The second group will be for ages 5-7 and start at 11:15a to 12:00 noon. The weekly " Meet the Mayor" event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. Bogota Beautiful will host its first "FUNraise for Heart"event. This will take place from 10:00a to 2:00p. and will be held in Olsen Park. This will be a benefit for the American Heart Association in order to promote health and wellness. Activities will range from Jump Rope and other sports, to a walk along the Olsen Park Environmental walkway and chair yoga. Process will go to American Heart Association to assist their research in fighting Heart Disease. Bogota Beautiful will again host their Yoga in the Park classes. These will run every Saturday in May and June. Class will be one hour. These will take place each in Olsen Park and start at 9:00a. Classes will be led by a Professional Yoga instructor. These classes are open to anyone regardless of age, or experience. The classes will meet at the Bandshell in Olsen Park depending on the number of attendees classes may be held in the bandshell or on the lawn in front of the bandshell. Everyone you wishes to attend is required to provide their own mat, towels, and water. Comfortable clothing that will allowed free and ease of movement should be worn. This is free to the public, however it is asked to contact Bogota Beautiful at there website: bogotabeautiful.com to make a reservation for as many dates as you wish. This is Memorial Day weekend several closing have been announced.
- The Bogota Public Library will be closed on Saturday 27-May -Monday 29-May. They will reopen on Tuesday 30-May with regular Business hours.
- The Schools of the Bogota Public School system will be closed starting on Monday-29-May. Regular session will resume on Tuesday 30-May.
- St. Joseph's School will be closed on Friday-26-May. Regular session will resume on Tuesday 30-May.
- Trinity Lutheran School will be closed starting early on Friday-26-May. Regular session will resume on Tuesday-30-May.
- Bogart School will be closed on Monday 29-May,
- There will be no lawn waste collection on Monday-29-May
- Borough Hall offices will be closed on Monday-29-May
Monday-29-May Memorial Day

The Bogota VFW Ralph Hall post #5561, and the Bogota American Legion Clifford Dunn Post #117 has announced the schedule for their Memorial Day celebrations for 2016. This year Memorial Day will be on Monday -30-May. The Bogota VFW, American Legion and the Borough of Bogota will hold their Memorial Day Service starting at 11:00a. This will take place in front of Borough Hall located at 375 Larch Ave Bogota, NJ This event is free and opened to the Public. The Bogota Memorial Day Parade will start at Palisades Ave & Cedar St in Bogota. This will kick off at 2:00p The Parade will travel North on Palisade to E. Main St. It will turn left onto E. Main St and cross over the 1st Lt. Albert Graf Bridge to Elm Ave. It will make a right turn onto Elm ave and travel north to W. Grove St. It will turn Left onto W. Grove to Larch Ave. It will turn Left onto Larch Ave and travel South to Bogota Borough Hall and will end after passing by the reviewing stand.
In preparation for this Memorial Day the Bogota Dept. of Public Works has placed new American flags on the streetlight poles from E. Ft. Lee rd at Palisades Ave along the parade route to W. Main St and Larch Ave. There are also new flags hanging in front of Bogota Borough Hall on Larch Ave.
Also on that same Monday the Volunteer members of the Bogota Emergency Services Dept. will have their annual inspection. The members, with their equipment, of The Bogota Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, will line in front of Borough Hall starting at 9:00a. They will then fall in to be reviewed by the Elected officials of Bogota Government. This will included Mayor Chris Kelemen and members of the Borough Council.
After the inspection the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. will hold their remembrance ceremony starting at 10:00a at the memorial service in Borough Hall Park.
All these events are open to the public to view. The Bogota VFW will then host an indoor picnic of Hot-dogs and soda in the lower hall Ralph Hall, after the Parade. The post is located at 241 West. Shore Ave. Bogota, NJ
