The Bogota Public Library is continuing its project to create the Nikki Spiegel Storytime Corner in the Library's main floor. The Bogota VFW Post #5561 will host their annual Loyalty Day program.They will award the winners of the "Voice of Democracy" and "Patriot's Pen" essay contest. They will also display the work of the colouring contest for the younger Students. This will be held in the Main Hall located at 240 Leonia Ave Bogota, NJ. This is open to the Public and is a free event. This will take place in the Main Hall and start at 7:00p. There will be a local singing group providing live entertainment and a flag presentation. Then the winners of the Patriots Pen and "Voice of Democracy" writing competition will be announced. The winning essays will be read aloud and the writers will be given their awards.

The weekly " Meet the Mayor" event will take place in the office of Mayor Chris Keleman This is open to any Bogota resident who would to ask the Mayor a question about Bogota, or to discuss any matter to help improve the quality of life in the Borough. Anyone who wishes just to have an informal conversation with the Mayor is also welcome to attend. Meetings will be held on a first come basis. This will run from 5:00p to 7:00p in the Mayor's office. The Bergen County Department of Parks and in collaboration with the Rutgers University Center of Urban Environmental Sustainability will host a series of community meeting focusing on the Master plan for Bergen County Parks. The first of these meeting will be held at Two Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack, NJ. This meeting is schedule to start at 7:00p and run until 10:00p. Bogota Beautiful will again host their Yoga in the Park classes. These will run every Saturday in May and June. Class will be one hour. These will take place each in Olsen Park and start at 9:00a. Classes will be led by a Professional Yoga instructor. These classes are open to anyone regardless of age, or experience. The classes will meet at the Bandshell in Olsen Park depending on the number of attendees classes may be held in the bandshell or on the lawn in front of the bandshell. Everyone you wishes to attend is required to provide their own mat, towels, and water. Comfortable clothing that will allowed free and ease of movement should be worn. This is free to the public, however it is asked to contact Bogota Beautiful at there website: bogotabeautiful.com to make a reservation for as many dates as you wish. The Bogota Community Garden will start work on the expansion of the current garden. They plan to add 4 more raise planting beds to bring the total to 20. This will require the garden to increase by six feet along the west side of the garden and by eighteen feet towards the north side. This will allow the garden to have two rows of 10 planting beds each. The Garden also is seeking to add a number of support structures such as a tool shed, compost area and benches. They are looking for volunteers to assist with the construction of the new space. Another new feature will be the Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept will be permitted to fill the rain barrels if the supply of water begins to run low.
Anyone wishing to reserve at planter for themselves, or as a group should contact the Bogota Community Garden at: bogotacommunitygarden@gmail.com for information on reserving a bed, and to learn about the requirement will be to be a part of the garden.

The Bogota Public Library will honor the Life of Nikki Spiegel on Saturday-6-May. This will include the formal dedication of the Nikki Spiegel Storytime Corner and the unveiling of the " Nikki Tree". This will be a chance for members of the Community to share, listen, and remember the Life and works of Nikki Spiegel. The ceremony will start at 3:00p at the Bogota Public Library located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. This will be a remembrance of the work Ms Spiegel has done in affecting the lives of the Student of Bogota. She served as the Library's Director of the Children's Program for fifteen years and showed the importance, and pleasure reading and learning to many generations of Bogota Student. During this event, a tree build combining two of Ms Spiegel favorite passions of reading and nature, will be unveiled to become a place of quiet reading and learning within the Library.

The Steen School PTO will host their fifth annual "Tricky-Tray" fundraiser event. This will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ridgefield Park. Proceeds from this event will go to help fund the Steen PTO. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Admission includes a buffet dinner along with refreshments and desserts. A cash bar will be available. A sheet of tickets for the small basket prizes are also included.
