On Monday -11-April the Bogota, Leonia, Montvale team of the Police Unity Tour held a fundraising dinner and raffle at the 101 Pub in Bogota. This was to raise money for the 2017 Police Unity Tour in May of 2017. Processes from the ride will go to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial and Museum, in Washington DC. The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty. With a secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum. The tour started in 1997 in Florham Park with 18 riders in order to bring awareness of Police Officers who have been lost in the line of duty to the public. This first ride raised about $18,000 for the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial. Over the first 19 years of the tour over 20 million dollars for the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial and Museum, along with the Recently Fallen Alert program
Their next ride will start on Tuseday- 9-May in East Hanover, NJ and is scheduled to be in Washington DC on Friday-12- May.
This year the Bogota, Leonia, Montvale along with members from the Broward County Sheriff's Dept, The Penna. Dept of Correction, and the FBI will be riding in honour of many different officers this year. Those Office who have come to the End of Watch are: Officer Jonathan DeGuzam of the San Diego PD, Officer Tyrone Franklin of the Paterson PD, Sgt Todd Stamper of the Crandon PD, Sgt Collin Rose of the Wayne State Univ. PD Sgt Paul Tuozzolo of the NYPD, and TPR Darryl Haywood sr. of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Members, and guest of the riders wore shirts remembering them during the event.
