On Tuesday-4-April the Bogota Board of Education held the first of two board meetings for the month of April. Two presentations were made before the agenda items were discussed. The first was budget items prior to the public budget meeting. These were mainly to have the board authorized funds be transferred from one of the boards account to another. This was recommended to in order to allow proper funding of upcoming project, as well as, keeping the necessary funding for emergency proposes. The official budget meeting will take place on Tuesday 25-April schedule to start at 7:30p This is open to the public and will take place in the High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of 2 Henry Luthin pl.
The second presentation was from Matthew Lee and Michael Kaelber from the New Jersey School Board Association. This was a public review of Code of Ethics that all school board members take when they are sworn into office. The main points are that, as a board member person first duty is to welfare of the Students, all Students be treated equally. The next is that the School Board as a group should form policy, and avoid the administration of the schools on a day to day basis. The board members were told that they are allow to contact school administrators, teachers or other public officials on personal business if they identify as a board member, and state the nature of their discuss in of a person nature and will be unrelated to the the Board of Education.
On the agenda items, one item was table until the next board meeting. That was in regard to the 2017-18 school calendar. It will be readdressed at the 25-April meeting. A non-agenda item was the discussions held by members of the Board of Education, and members of the Bogota Borough Council on funding for home venue for the Bogota Bucs Soccer teams. The Council's plan is to level, regrade, and replace the turf between the two Little League field on the Eastern side of Olsen Park. Funds have been secured for the Borough to purchase movable goals, new turf, and markings to allow the Bogota Soccer Bucs to play home games in Bogota. It was also announced that this may the first of a joint School Board and Borough Council plan to upgrade and repair Feigel Field to become a multi-sport venue. This is scheduled to be on the agenda at the next Council meeting on Thursday-6- April. This will be held in the Council Chamber located on the second floor of 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ This will start at 7:30p and is open to the Public. The Board of Education is also schedule have this on the agenda for it's the Tuesday 25-April meeting which is also open to the Public.
