Bogota Blog NJ has received a notice of the passing of Gunnar Guist. Mr. Guist was a native of Bergenfield, NJ. While he did not serve overseas he honoured both his Father and Brother who are Veterans of the US Armed Forces. By joining Men's Auxiliary to help aid other Veterans in need. This lead Mr Guist to become a member and President of the Bergenfield VFW Post 6447 Men's Auxiliary. He served as bartender at Bergenfield VFW Post 6447 for numerous years. He also served as a bartender for about the last 3 years for the Bogota VFW Post #5561.
Mr Guist also took time to volunteer at the Paramus veterans home numerous times a year. He would assist the Veterans there with bingo, mock horse races, and other activities to allow them to a have more fulfilling day to day experience .

May 17, 1953 - February 1, 2017 (Age 63)
Gunnar J. Quist of Bergenfield passed away on February 1, 2017. Beloved husband of Diane Quist. Loving father of Donna Niera, Gina Quist, and Tara Quist. Dear brother of Candee, Gustav, and Dan. Cherished grandfather of the beautiful Milania. He was a proud member of the Men's Auxiliary to the VFW in Bergenfield and Bogota. Visiting at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack.
