On Wednesday 18-May the Steen Violin Orchestra held their Spring concert. The Students ranging from Third to Sixth grade displayed what they have learn. The concert started with the newest Musicians playing "pizzicato" by plucking the strings to learn the sounds of the notes possible. Then the more experience players playing in groups and a number of solo performances to show their talent. Director Jeannine Murray added accompaniment to some of the songs. One to help set the tempo of the music. And also to reassure the younger artist that even playing in front of an Audience the sound should be the same as in rehearsal. Other times Ms. Murray stood back and let the Musician have the full attention of the Audience, in order to show their progression.
The next concert will be by the Steen Hawk Band on Wednesday 23-May. This will begin at 7:00p and be held in the Steen Gymnasium. The entrance is located off Orchard Terrance Bogota, NJ.
