On Friday 20-May the Bogota Baseball Bucs played their Senior Game against North Arlington. Six Seniors were recognized, Scorekeeper Ariel Olivo. Players Michael Granquist, Joe Mitchell, Michael Kohles, Kazuki Garay, and Nico Calabia. (more detail about the ceremony in an upcoming post)
The game was scoreless into the third inning until Bogota was able to break the deadlock. The Vikings were able to even the score with their next at bat. North Arlington then score two in the top of the fifth for a two run lead. The Bucs then tied the game again in the bottom of the sixth inning. North Arlington again plated two Runs in the top of the seventh restoring their two run lead. In the Home half of the inning Bogota was able to get two base runners with no one out. Joe Mitchell then hit a triple to clear the bases and tie the score for a third time. Bogota next two batters were walked to give the Bucs bases loaded with still no outs. Michael Martinez flied out to Centre Field deep enough to allow Mr. Mitchell to score from third base, He was also the Pitcher of record for the win.
Bogota's record is now 12-11. Their next game will be as a #15 seed in the NJSIAA North 1 Group 1 playoffs . They will play at #2 Verona on Monday 23-May in an Opening round Game.
