On Wednesday 20- April Bogota Beautiful held their monthly board meeting. The main item on the agenda was to finalize details about their second annual Earth Day event on Saturday 23- April. Everyone who has registered to volunteer, or anyone who wishes to volunteer must meet at the picnic pavilion in Olsen at 9:00A that day. Please note that the parking lot at the Bogota Recreation Center can NOT be use for Earth Day parking. There is an differant event at the Rec Center and the parking lot is reserved for that use. The parking lot near the environmental walk is available, but with limited spaces.
The areas they plan to clean is the East side of Olsen Park focusing on the Little League fields going all the way to the area behind the bleachers at Fiegel Field. The business district along W. Main St. This will include doing the Spring planting in the large flowers pots there. New trees, and flowers will be added, along with fresh soil. There will also be a team that will clean the Ft.Lee road area at the railroad crossing. Both West & East Ft. Lee, and West Shore Ave up to the Bogota VFW post. An addition area has been added to included the High School. Crews will focus on the small garden along the South side of the building, the oval in front of the school and the Board of Education offices.
Everyone volunteering should have their own work, or garden gloves, and sturdy clothing. Bogota Beautiful will provide water filling station so volunteers should also bring their own bottles for refilling. Refreshments will be proved in Olsen Park starting at 11:30a. Any Student ( High School or College) who would like Community Service credit must brings their forms to be signed by Bogota Beautiful to recieve credit.
Other items are the members of Bogota Beautiful will be attending the Borough Council Meeting on Thursday 21-April to support the Community Garden. The Garden project is schedule to be an agenda item and Bogota Beautiful will welcome members of the public to voice their support for it to Borough Council. The meeting is schedule to start at 7:30p. It will take place in the Council Chambers of Borough Hall. Borough Hall is located at 375 Larch Ave. Bogota, NJ. This meeting is open to the public.
