   On Tuesday 8-Dec the Bogota Board of Education held its final meeting for the calendar year 2015.
At the start of the meeting Superintendent Dr. Letizia Pantoliano took the time to honour Board President Mary Ellen Murphy on her final final meeting. Ms Murphy did not choose to run for reelection this year. Dr Pantoliano also presented High School Principal Linda Gattuso with a plaque  in recognition of her 30 years of service to the Students of Bogota. Principal Gattuso started as a teacher at Bixby school then onto become the principal there for 12 years  before moving onto the High School serving six year as Principal there.
  The first item of business was to approve resolution on personnel. This including approving Danian Kennedy as the new Principal for Bogot High School. Principal Kennedy will begin his tenure starting on 1-January-2016. Mr. Kennedy is currently the Vice Principal at the High School, and coaches the  Lady Bucs Basketball team.  Some other items of note were a number budget motions were table until the new board convenes in 2016. Some that were passed was to install security system in Steen and Bixby Schools and add to the system already in place at the High School. Another was to approve a the contract for the Custodial and Maintenance personnel for the district's school
   The final part of the meeting was the third part of the Strategic Planning meeting to help develop goals for the next five years in the Bogota Public School system. This consisted of members of the Public, Educators, and Board Members. The main points were to find a way to retain and attract school age Student to continue receiving their education  with the Bogota Public Schools. Other points made was to increase sustainability of the buildings in the district. More Parent and Community involvement in the Academic life of the Students and expanding  the technology  and global access for the Student.  The ideas,and recommendations will be combined in a report by the New Jersey School Board Association presented to the Bogota Board of Education in a March meeting.
   The next Bogota Board of Education meeting is tentatively  schedule for Tuesday 5-January 2016 starting at 7:30. At this meeting the three Candidates elected to the Board in November will be sworn in. This meeting is open to the public. It will be held in the High School Cafeteria located on the second floor of Bogota high School at 2 Henry Luthin Pl. Bogota, NJ
