On Tuesday 13-October the Bogota Public Library re-opened after a week and a-half of refurbishing. They were giving slightly used shelving, a majority of which was in new condition. While there need to be down time to install the new shelves the Library Staff took this opportunity to give the Library a fresher look. The new shelves are all metal and a light beige in colour. Since the new shelves are metal that can now hold more books while using less space. This allows the top of the shelves to be lower, which blocks less light for the ceiling fixtures. The walls are now a solid colour with different colours for each section. The Children's area is now Red, and Blue. The computer wall is now a burnt orange, with the new Teen area a green. The new quiet reading reading, and Art gallery is yellow. With a dedicated gallery space the display case has been removed from the entrance to the main reading room. In it's place is a smaller kiosk for seasonal suggestions. The teen area is now home to the makers exploring table.
The magazines rack , and current book are located in the back room offering a more intimate reading room to go with the future Art gallery. There is still work to be done before the renovations are fully complete. End caps are to be installed at the end of each shelving rack to give them a clean, finished look. More painting needs to be done. ( This is scheduled for Saturday 17-October and any Volunteers are welcome to help.) Along with the completion of the Gallery Space.
The Library has also resume their October schedule of events. For more information about upcoming Library events please visit their web site at : http://www.bogotapubliclibrary.org/
