Lady Bucs Volleyball

    On Thursday 10-September the Bogota Lady Bucs opened their season with a 2-0 (25-9 : 25-6) victory  over Hawthorne Christian Academy at home in Speary Gym.  The Lady Defenders started out with a quick 2-0 until the Lady Bucs settled themselves down.  Bogota used service  runs by   Amanda Manzo, and then by Samantha Gioiosa take over the first game. The second game started with Kaliana Vasquez serving for the first four point then additional service runs by Jaeylen Grulion followed by Amanda Manzo to secure the win. This is one of the younger Lady Bucs squad in recent years with one Senior Amanda Manzo returning as setter, and Junior Samantha Gioiosa as Outside Hitter. Junior Julia Goni starts her first year as full time Libero, along with a large number of Sophomore and Freshmen players rounding out the squad.
    Lady Bucs were lead by Amanda Manzo  with 20 Assists and 8 Service  Points  and Kaliana Vasquez also with 8 Service Points, Samantha Gioiosa with 16 Kills, and Lisbeth Suarez with 5 Digs.
  The Lady Bucs next play on Saturday 12-Saturday at the Jersey Classic in Paramus. The Tournament is schedule to start at 9:00a. Their next league game will be at Immaculate Heart Academy on Tuesday 15- Sept. scheduled to start at 4:30p with the Junior Varsity game to follow.
