Starting on Friday 2- October the Bogota Public library will be closed for a renovation until Monday 12- October . The Library will not schedule any checked out items to be due during the closing to avoid late fees. The Bogota Public Library is part of the BCCLS which will allow a cardholder from Bogota to use any other Library that is part of the BCCLS system. The nears BCCLS are in Hackensack, Ridgefield Park, Teaneck, and Leonia.
During the Summer the Library obtain a supply of shelving from the Princeton Hun School, and the Montclair Public Library. These shelf are in practically new condition, and still useable. When the old shelving was removed the original idea was just to give the reading rooms a fresh coat of paint. Library Director Radwa Ali, and other staff members starting to think of a plan how to give the Library an entire new look since they now have this opportunity to do so. Some highlights of this new plan is to start with the back room. The idea for this room is to move the magazine section into it, and also have a shelving dedicated to new publications and best sellers. The idea is to create a lounge area which will allow a quiet reading area within the Library. Another part of this new area is open wall space to display local artwork in more of a gallery type environment.
The former magazine area will now be a young adult reading area. This will contain books, and magazine dedicated to that audience. Also in this area will be a new " MakerLab" which will be developed as a continuation of the Science Heros workshop form this Summer. More tables and chairs will also be added for his purpose. And a collection of nonfiction books will be included for this audience. The overall shelving in the Library will also be reorganized to make the grouping of Fiction, and nonfiction more uniform. The nonfiction will be located closer to the " MakerLab" for easier access for research. The Children's will change little in shape, but with newer shelving and a fresher look.
Ms. Ali also is looking to greatly expand the number of outlets available for use. This is to bring the study table closer an available outlet when needed. The Libraries plan is to create dynamic , interactive space to explore. Over the last year the expanded, and new programs of workshop, classes, and lecture with this the visitation to the Bogota Public Library has grown. The Library is taking this opportunity plan a more modern and more inviting Library to not only read and relax in, but to learn, create, explore, expand, and grow with each visit to the Library. The reopening date is scheduled for Tuesday 13- October.
This renovation will also be open to anyone who wishes to volunteer their time and energy into helping with the recreation of the Library. The Library is looking to be more open to it's users, and feel that the same user should be permitted to help with this goal. The Library will also accept any other types of donation, or contributions to help reshape the Library.
