VFW Wrestling

   On Saturday 1 1- April the Bogota VFW post #5561 host a first of its kind wrestling event in Bogota. This was stage by one of the newer promotions “  Wrestling is Magic”  The matches took place in a ring set-up  in the Main Hall of the Post. An estimated audience  between 100 -150 wrestling fans watch as the matches took place. This event goes back to the early roots of Pro- wrestling where the fans are close enough to the ring they can interact with wresters inn the ring. Encouragement and high fives can be given to the favorites. While the “heels” can be taunted by the crowd, and the hecklers can be answered back. 
  Another feature of this event is at intermission fans can meet and talk to a wrestler of their choice. This is a way to show how much the wrestlers appreciate the fans support, And the fans share a moment with the athletes.  The location of the matches was not lost by the promoters when to start the second half of the evening the ring announcer took the time to talk about the VFW and the work they do for the Veterans how have served this country. He also encouraged  any Veteran in attendance to join the VFW, If not post #5561 than the Post closest to them. It was also mentioned that the VFW is also accepting applications to the Women’s & Men’s Auxiliary for those who had family members serve the country.
  Wrestling is Magic hopes to return to Bogota in the coming months after the success of this first event. This show is an example of how the Ralph Hall VFW Post #5561 in Bogota has grown and improved. Process from event like this goes toward the upkeep of the post , and allows them to have other programs for the area Veterans at a reduce cost.
