On Sunday the Miss Bogota 2015 Pageant held their Etiquette and Protocol, & Public Speaking workshop at the Bogota Recreation Center. The workshop was lead by Vanessa Amaro who covered a variety of topics. One of the main themes through the event was that all Women should be proud and confident of who they are in any situation. The use of proper manners and knowing what is expected in formal setting will help strengthen their confidence. The workshop started with the basics of learning to walk properly. This was done with the traditional walking with a book on ones head. As old fashioned as this may sound it still make the user to hold correct posture while walking , which allows for proper breathing , and forces the walker to be looking forward in order to observe the area that is being covered. For young Women this will also allow them to be aware of their surrounding and help keep them safer on a crowded public street.
Another topic was proper table manners. More than just knowing which is the salad fork, but teaching the importance of how one sits at a dining table will be a spotlight on the character of a person. Whether in a business setting, formal or informal dining party, or even having a first diner with a Boyfriends Parent being comfortable at the table will show the type of person they are going to be. One of the last parts of the workshop was to how to handle the art of Public speaking. From breathing to the speed of how they are talking will show the intelligence of the person talking. Being part of a Pageant there will be times the Candidates will have to talk in front of a large group of people. Being nervous is excepted, but speaking calmly in a steady speed, and enunciating correctly will show the confidence that could win or lose a pageant.
The final talk given to the Candidate by Ms Amaro was that a Young Woman should be proud of who she is, and what she can do. Showing the world that she has a command of any situation she may face will allows other to give her the respect she has earned.
