Bogota Junior Football

10- August.-2014

With the month of August coming to its halfway date, some Fall sports programs are starting to get ready. The High School Varsity programs may begin their official training this week, while the Bogota Junior Football teams started a week earlier.
Bogota plays in the Bi-County Junior Scholastic Football League (BCJSFL) which consist eight other teams located from Englewood in the North to Secaucus & Weehawken to the South. The teams will  play an a regulation size football field, with all home game will be played at Feigel Field in Bogota.
All divisions are opened to Girls  and Boys who live and attend any of the schools in Bogota, and neighboring communities.
- The Pee-Wee is for the youngest players which is for student from 2nd to 4th grade, and are under 11 years of age.
- The Junior division is for those players who are in 5th & 6st grade and are under the age of 13.
- The Senior division are those players who will be in 7th & 8th grade and are younger the 15 years of age.

At one of the first practices the Pee-Wee & Junior squads started with exercises, and running to help them prepare themselves for playing. The Senior squad have started to contact drills under the eyes of their Coaches. For some of the newer players to the Senior division the thought of being hit by a larger teammate started to be intimidating.  The Coaches talked to them about how in August they are only up-against their teammates who are also there to get ready for the season. When September comes they will then be apart of a 11man unit working together for a common goal.  Also some of the older players took on the responsibility to show their teammates on how to take, and to give a hit safely, and what they need to do to help themselves improve. At this practice the Coaches also showed  different blocking techniques, and explained why one way will work better and others will not.
Anyone interested in joining  one of the Bogota Junior Bucs Football Squads have until Wednesday 10 Sept. to sign up. Please contact Hiram Espinoza for more information at :   hiramespi32@verizon.net .
Also anyone wanting to join the Rec Cheerleaders may also contact Mr. Espinosa at the same address. The Rec Cheerleaders are the same age groups as the Football  team, and is open to students from other Communities as well. Some girls from Teaneck joined the Bogota Cheerleaders last years and were warmly welcome to the Bogota Program.
The first game will be at Englewood on Friday-12 September starting with the Pee-Wee game at 6:00p. The Bucs first Home game will be on Saturday 20-Sept. at Feigel Field starting with the Pee-Wee at 11:00a.  The Night before on Friday 19- September there will be a Pep-Rally for the players at Olsen park starting at 7:00p.
