On Saturday 12- April the first phase of renovation of the Bogota VFW post 5561 took place. Members of Rebuilding Together Bergen County along with some local volunteers stated preparation work on the Lower Hall in the VFW. On this first day the walls in the Lower Hall , and Hallway had their molding removed and the walls were based coated in a light colour in order to cover up the old brown paneling. While in the Upper Hall Post Cmdr Alex Hernandez started to replace some of the water stain ceiling tiles. Also the Main entrance of the Upper Hall hand the old carpeting removed and replaced with Hardwood flooring. The Entrance to the Upper Hall is where the the post will display the commemorable plaques post 5561 is making available For more information about these plaques please go to there Face Book page at:

The finishing day of this project will be on Saturday 26- April. This days goal is to have a new floor installed and the finish coat of paint on the walls and the molding to be reinstalled.They hope to refurbish the floors, walls as well as replace the lighting in the lower hall. NVE Bank has already contributed $6000.00 to this project Other donations of water, soda, snacks, baked goods or Shoprite or Dunkin Donuts gift cards will go a long way. All gifts are tax deductible. Volunteers are needed for both days. The work day is scheduled to be from 8:00a to 4:00p on both days. Breakfast & Lunch will be provide on both days as well.

After the Lower Hall is completed the next step is to upgrade the floor in the Upper Hall. The goal is to not only replace the main floor, but to rejuvenate the dance floor in the centre of the hall. The walls of the Upper Hall is also scheduled to be repainted , as well as the continued replacement of the ceiling tiles.
