A few Earth Day events that are happening in and around Bogota on Saturday & Sunday 26-27 April.
In Bogota Saturday 26- April will be The National Rebuilding Day event at the Bogota VFW. This will be when the main effort to refurbish and upgrade the Lower Hall of the Bogota VFW. The goal is to improve both Upper & Lower halls of the VFW in order for them to be a competitive venue for events, galas and parties which will financially aid the Bogota VFW post 5561.They hope to refurbish the floors, walls as well as replace the lighting in the lower hall. NVE Bank has already contributed $6000.00 to this project Other donations of water, soda, snacks, baked goods or Shoprite or Dunkin Donuts gift cards will go a long way. All gifts are tax deductible. Volunteers are needed for both days. The work day is scheduled to be from 8:00a to 4:00p on both days. Breakfast & Lunch will be provide on both days as well.
On Saturday 12- April will also be part of the VFW upgrade. This will be a prep day, and any interseted in Volunteering can work on this day as well.

The Borough of Tenafly , NJ will hold their Earth Day Celebration on Saturday 26- April. This will take place in the Crescent located at Tenafly Rd. and Washington Ave. Tenafly, NJ This will run from 10:00a to 3:00p rain or shine.
In Overpeck Park The Hackensack Riverkeeper will hold their first Bergen County Earthfest. This will feature a
A Recycled Regatta in which teams will launch boats assembled from such unlikely materials as discarded milk jugs and scrap lumber and pilot them on Overpeck Creek;
Children’s activities including a catch-and-release fishing derby; and presentations by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the NJDEP Watershed Ambassadors;
Pharmaceutical collection conducted by the Bergen County Police Department;
Over six hours of free paddling courtesy of Hackensack Riverkeeper;
Entertainment including performances by: the Center for Modern Dance Education, singer-songwriter Loretta Hagen and Frantic! – north Jersey’s classic rock power trio;
An assemblage of food trucks, each featuring distinct fare;
A festival midway featuring environmental nonprofits, green vendors, animal rescue groups and healthy-living advocates;
A beer garden courtesy of the Great Lakes Brewing Company America’s most environmentally-responsible and socially-conscious brewery.

Day Two of EarthFest Overpeck on 4/27 includes a major Hackensack Riverkeeper Cleanup at the Palisades Park Sportsplex running from 12 Noon to 4PM. The site is located at the end of Roosevelt Street in Palisades Park, NJ and includes a large area of shoreline along Overpeck Creek. All volunteers will be treated to an early supper from Whole Foods Market after completion of the cleanup event..
In addition to EarthFest Overpeck, two other regional Earth Day events are set for April 27: Party for the Planet at Bergen County Zoo from 10AM to 4PM; and Opening Day of Hackensack Riverkeeper’s Paddling Center at Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus from 9AM to 6PM..
