The Bogota Lady Bucs Basketball team had the Senior Game at Speary Gym Thursday Night. Before the game the four Senior players were thanked for their time as Bogota Students & Players. As each was announced they took a Rose to members of their family to thank them for the support over the years.
Then the Lady Bucs took on Waldwick, the game itself started slowly as most of the points scored by both team came from the free throw line. In the second quarter Bogota slowly built a eight lead, only to have the Lady Warriors reduce that lead as the half moved on. Bogota's Kelliann Brown block a couple of shots towards the end of the half to let Bogota end the second quarter with a 16-13 lead. Bogota play an aggressive defence forcing a number of turnover. Then added three point baskets from Brittney Perpepaj & Kristin Bautista to put Bogota in control of the game.
Towards the end of the game Coach Kennedy was able to rest all four of his Senior's to the applause of the home crowd. But even those Seniors showed their excitement for the team as Emma O'Brien score her first Varsity Points to make the final score 45-25. This victory move the Lady Bucs record to 8-13. Carina Islip lead all scorers with 13 Points, including one three Pointer. While Kristin Bautista & Brittney Perpepaj each had 3 three point baskets. Their next scheduled game is Tuesday 25- Feb at Cresskill with a 4:00p start.
Because of the weather will play two more home games at Speary Gym. They are the game against Saddle River to be played on Mon. 24- Feb. at 4:00p. The other is the Saddle Brook game which will now be on Sunday 2- March with a 5:00p start.
