Some results from Bogtoa High School sports.
The Bogota Bowling team won it's meet against Midland Park on Weds. 29- Jan by the score of 3-2. Then on Thursday 30- Jan lost to New Millford 0-5.
The Boys Basketball team had a 73-56 at Emerson on Thursday. The Bucs moved 6 point ahead after the first quarter and a took a 22-21 lead into half time. They kept the scoring going for the entire game with four players reaching double figures. Keith Buirkle was the team high scorer with 18 points, including 5 three pointers. Danny Connors finished with 17 pts, 9 of them three pointers, Anthony Ovalle had 16, with 12 coming from outside the arc. Chris Alcantar added 11 points, with every player making at least one basket from the field. This moves their record to 3-10 for the season.
The next have their make-up game against Waldwick on Friday 31-Jan at Speary Gym. This is the game postponed because of the snow storm on 21- Jan. Their next regular scheduled game is on Thursday 6- Feb. when they travel to Midland Park.
The Lady Bucs also had a victory over Emerson on Thursday as the beat the Lady Cavos at Speary Gym by the score of 40-33. This marks the fourth win for Bogota in their last five games. In the latest three Bogota has scored at least 40 points. The game started out sloppy for the Lady Bucs with a number of turnovers leading to Emerson scoring chances. At one point Coach Kennedy asking his team if the could hear what play was being called. After trailing by 3 to start the second quarter, Bogota began to find their scoring taking a three point lead into the half , and pushing nit to six to start the final period.
Stephanie Perpepaj lead with 14 points, with Kristin Bautista adding another 12. Kelliann Brown & Carnia Isip both had a single three pointer for the Lady Bucs.
This makes their record 4-10 as the next play on Thursday 6- Feb. at Speary Gym against Midland Park with a 4:00p Tip-off. Then the next day 7- Feb. they host Hackensack at Speary Gym again starting at 4:00p.
