The Bogota Lady Bucs Volleyball team won their opening match in the NJSIAA Group 1 Tournament on Wednesday. #1 Bogota hosted #32 Arts High School of Newark Lady Jaguars in Speary Gym. The Lady Bucs seemed to be a team out of focus as Coach Brad DiRupo called for a time out twice in the first game, even though his team had leads when both time out were called. Coach DiRupo again had a strim talked his his team before the second game to remind them of that they still need to play as a team in order to win games. Bogota came out stronger in the second game to give them a 2-0 (25-10 : 25-7) win to advance to the next round.
Amanda Manzo lead in three categories with 4 Aces, 8 Service Points and 22 Assists. Carly O'Sullivan had a match high 18 Kills, and Samantha Gioiosa had 4 Digs.
The Lady Bucs next round match is Friday 8- November at Speary Gym when the # 1 Lady Bucs play #16 Wallington .
One side note some of the students in attendance had to warned by one of the officials that unsportsmanlike conduct is prohibited at all NJSIAA events. It was felt that the victory celebration by some of the students was uneceptable. At least one of the Student took the time to personally apologize to the Lady Jaguar Head Coach who graciously accepted it.
