On Saturday the Bogota Junior Bucs football teams opened their season against the Little Ferry Devils at Feigel Field. Bogota hosted their inaugural as part of the Bi-County Junior Scholastic Football League (BCJSFL), which is a nine team league made up towns a little closer to Bogota. Another new part of being a BCJSFL team is that the game is played on a regulation size football field.
The game of the day was from the Pee-Wee division. A under maned Bogtoa team played with just 11 players for the entire game. This meant that players played both Offense and Defense without any substitutions. Bogota trailed by one point 6- 7 at the half but finally end the game losing to Little Ferry by the score of 20-6.
In the Junior game was a showcase of defense with both teams shutting out their opponent. The Jr. Bucs appeared to have the break through score late in the last quarter with a double reverse only to have it called back because of a holding penalty. The game ended in a 0-0 tie.
The Senior game also ended in a 0-0 tie as both teams showed a bit of offense, only to be met with a stronger defense.
The next games are Friday 20- Sept. as the Jr. Bucs travel to Ft. Lee to take on the Bridgemen. The Pee-Wee game has a scheduled kickoff at 6:00p with the other two game to follow.
