The Village of Ridgefield Park held the 118 4th of July Parade. it started off with a bang from a mini cannon , then wound through the streets to Brewster Park. The marchers pass by large number of people lining both sides of the street to be a part of the celebration of American Independence. The parade was lead off with the Ridgefield Park police colour guard, and Bergen County Pipe Band followed by Mayor Fosdick, with members of council. The parade had a mix of local marcher, with Joseph Mahoney a 54 year member of the Fire Dept. serving as Grand Marshal. There was also floats showcasing the academic leaders from all of the Villages schools. Politicians from U.S.Senator Robert Menendez, and Country Executive Kathleen Donovan joined in the parade. Miss New Jersey 2012 Robin Vitale rode in the parade, other celebrities where an eight foot tall Uncle Sam, "George Burns & Gracie Allen' along with " Austin Powers", "Dr. Evil", with some" Fembots". They were followed by a row of classic American cars.
Bands from Newark "The Paul Duke Band", Passaic Indian Band, and Hawthorne" The Caballeros" provide music along the way. Veterans from Vietnam and Korea drew loud applause in recognition of their service to the county. And the finale of the parade where the many fire departments showing off their equipment. Bogota once again had a large turnout from it's dept. showing the support of it's neighbor to the south. Not only did all four Companies from the Borough turn-out, but members & equipment from both the First-aid and Rescue Squads join the parade.
