The Bogota Bucs open their football season today with a 14-19 loss to the New Milford Knights. The game played at Feigel Field saw an opening drive capped off with a long touchdown run by Edwin Fiscal. That was the only scoring in the first half which was bogged down by a torrent of rain which lasted for most of the second quarter.
The third quarter opened with sunshine, and the opening kick-off returned for a New Milford touchdown by Dante Tobler. Mr. Tober was seemingly stopped in Knights territory, but broke free of the Bucs defense for the touchdown.New Milford took the lead on a long pass play, but missed the extra point. Bogota took the lead with a combination of long runs by Mr. Fiscal, and a series of Quarter Back keepers by Gordon Kohles. The Bucs finished the drive with a power run into the end zone by Devon Rodgers. On the ensuing kick-off the idea wads to keep the ball away from Dante Tobler, but this resulted in the ball rolling out of bounds giving New Milford a shorter field to work with. The Knights took a long march to score the go ahead Touch-down, but in failing to convert the two points gave Bogota a chance to go ahead with just the major score. As the Bucs got closer to the Knights End Zone three straight runs by Mr. Kohles could not push pass the New Milford Defense. A fourth down pass fell short of the receiver, which then allowed New Milford to run out the clock.
